Registering a death in Turkey
Consular death registration is not a legal requirement but there are some benefits:
· an entry will be made in the death register at the British Consulate General in Istanbul
· you’ll be provided with a British style death certificate
· a record of the death will be held by the General Register Office in the UK
PLEASE NOTE: You’ll need to register the death with the foreign civil authorities and obtain a full Turkish death certificate (Formul C) before you can apply for consular death registration.

Fees are payable by credit card or in cash. Credit card payments will be charged in Sterling regardless of the country of issue. Cash payments will be accepted in Turkish Lira only and charged at the Consular rate of exchange applicable on the day of application.
After March of the year following the registration copies can be obtained from the General Register Office.
