Green team

In 2007, a few members of the British Embassy staff who were experts and interested in environmental issues started to work together with the aim of increasing environmental awareness and reducing the Embassy’s environmental impact. Ankara was chosen as a pilot Embassy to take forward the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s overall Greening efforts.  We now have a dedicated environmental officer in place and a permanent structured system to manage the impact of the Embassy’s operations on the environment and climate change.

In 2009, we launched a Greening Strategy which covers all of our operations in Turkey, including the Embassy in Ankara and our Consulate-General in Istanbul. In 2009-10 we aim to reduce our energy, water and transport usage by 5%
