Projects
The British Embassy funds projects to a value of around £1,500,000 annually in Turkey. The priority areas of the FCO's Strategic Programme Fund include democracy and the rule of law, human rights, freedom of expression, migration, climate change and energy, strengthening civil society, capacity-building for non-governmental organisations, and environment.
We have two sources of funding from which we can apply for project funding:
British Embassy and Consulate General projects: For small projects (up to a value of £5,000), the British Embassy and the British Consulate General can agree funding for projects. Project proposals can be submitted at any time durinTg our financial year, which runs from 1 April to 31 March.
British Government projects: For larger projects, project the British Embassy must submit project proposals for approval to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, using a standard Programme Application Form. As consideration of a project proposal can take some time, applications are invited in November for projects for the following financial year. Project funding is usually determined at the beginning of April. Bidders should bear in mind that start-dates vary but those projects are unlikely to start until June.
Foreign & Commonwealth Office programme budgets can generally be used to support projects which extend beyond a single financial year up to three years. Small projects funded locally must be completed within the financial year in which funding is agreed.
